The watermelon is a fruit that takes approximately 90 days to grow from planting to harvest. It is about 92% water so is a refreshing fruit filled with nutrients. Watermelons are significant source of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids. In addition there is a modest amount of potassium, while fat-free, very low in sodium and has only 40 calories per cup.
